The Foundry and Timber Board unit specialises in the supply of resins, various other foundry related chemicals and products and markets and manufactures formaldehyde, urea formaldehyde and phenol formaldehyde resins.
For the Foundry applications, ChemSystems represents ASK Chemicals, in South Africa through a license and distribution agreement. ASK is a multinational business, with its head-office in Germany and is a global leader and innovator in foundry technology with comprehensive manufacturing, logistics and research capabilities across the globe.
Together with comprehensive support from ASK, ChemSystems with its local foundry industry specialists, provides comprehensive technical support in the application of the products, as well as developing tailored product solutions to suit local requirements and conditions.
For Timber Board, ChemSystems manufactures and markets formaldehyde, urea formaldehyde and phenol formaldehyde resins. These resins are used predominantly in the production of laminated veneer, plywood, and medium density fiber and particle board as timber adhesives, as well as for dust control. The formaldehyde solutions are marketed in the fishing, mining, adhesive, animal feed and coating industries.
The production and application of the resins are produced under a license agreement with their technology partner, Georgia-Pacific Chemicals.
The unit has a comprehensive logistics network across South Africa with its central sales and administration offices based in Chloorkop, Gauteng and satellite operations in Durban and Cape Town. The unit has manufacturing, laboratory and warehouse facilities at both its Chloorkop and Durban offices.
